Optically active, secondary allylic alcohols can be prepared from ally
lic silanes by the successive asymmetric dihydroxylation and Peterson
olefination reactions. The Effects of trialkylsilyl groups on the outc
ome of the AD reaction on vinyl and allyl silanes are also discussed.
