M. Murat et al., EVIDENCE OF A CHARACTERISTIC EVOLUTION OF TEXTURAL AND SURFACE-PROPERTIES ASSOCIATED TO THE 1ST STEP OF THE METAKAOLINITE TO MULLITE TRANSITION, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie 2, Mecanique, physique, chimie, sciences de l'univers, sciences de la terre, 316(7), 1993, pp. 907-912
The first step of the transition, which gives rise to segregation of a
morphous phases (including silica) and formation of gamma-alumina or m
ullite according to the crystallinity of the starting kaolinite, is as
sociated with a characteristic increase of the cumulated pore volume a
nd above all, of the value of the constant C of the BET theory. This c
an be interpreted in terms of appearance of sites with higher energy l
evel or to an increase of the adsorption entropy on the solid surfaces
transitorily segregated.
