Abstract
When pulmonary embolism is severe enough to produce acute cor pulmonal e, transthoracic 2-dimensional echocardiography can promptly yield fin dings highly suggestive of this condition while ruling out competing d iagnoses. We present a case diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiograph y and successfully treated despite a prolonged refractory cardiac arre st.
