Abstract
The dependence of the light pulse location with respect to the period of the modulating signal on the discharge current, the resonator lengt h mismatch and other parameters is measured for different visible and uv lines in a mode-locked argon-ion laser. When the laser operates con siderably above threshold and the duration of the pulses is a minimum, this location is substantially in advance of the point of minimum los s. The complete pulse evolution from appearance to disappearance as a function of the basic laser parameters is also investigated. It is fou nd that the pulse has minimum duration when it is followed by a satell ite.
