High-pressure Raman study on Pb5Ge3O11 reveals the occurrence of an ir
reversible phase transition from crystalline to amorphous state above
14.6 GPa. The (GeO4)4- tetrahedra is still retained but highly distort
ed in the pressure-induced amorphous Pb5Ge3O11. The crystallization pr
ocesses of the pressure-induced amorphous Pb5Ge3O11, investigated by m
eans of Raman scattering, are similar to those of the melt-quenched am
orphous form.
