Abstract
An explanation is proposed for the selective aggregation of colloidall y dispersed metal particles by living microorganisms in the stage of c apture, based on the assumption that the nonuniformity of distribution of charges of different signs on the cell membrane is related to proc esses of cell activity. The mechanism is realizable over a broad inter val of electrolyte concentrations.
