The effect of initiation rate (dose-rate of gamma-radiation) the forma
tion rate of hexafluoropropylene oxide has been studied. Experimental
data confirm that the epoxide forms in the reaction R-O-C3F6.--> -->R.
+ C3F6O, as contrasted to the generally accepted fragmentation of bet
a-peroxyalkyl radicals R-O-O-C3F6. --> RO. + C3F6O.
