Aluminium electronegativity in molten salts based on 3-butyl-1-methyli
midazolium chloride and AlEtCl2, AlEt2Cl, AlEt3 and mixtures of AlEtCl
2 and AlCl3 has been determined by the modified Dailey-Shoolery equati
on using H-1 NMR spectroscopy. For Al to 3-butyl-1-methylimidazolium c
hloride molar ratios between 1 : 1 and 3 : 1 there is a linear relatio
nship between the aluminium electronegativity of the anionic species p
resent in the melts and the molar composition.
