Abstract
A new lignan, traxillaside and nine known lignans, arctigenin, traxill agenin, trachelogenin, matairesinol, nortrachelogenin, arctiin, trache loside, matairesinoside and nortracheloside, were isolated from the ba rk of Trachelospermum axillare. The structure of traxillaside was dedu ced from chemical and spectral evidence to be ybenzylbutyrolactone-4'' -O-beta-D-glucopyranoside.
