Abstract
Active control of harmonic vibratory power flow from a rigid body thro
ugh two active isolators to a simply supported flexible panel is inves
tigated theoretically and experimentally. Power flow as a result of mo
ments acting on the rigid body as well as horizontal and vertical forc
es is taken into account. Both theoretical and experimental results sh
ow that over a wide frequency range, an active isolation system consis
ting of a force actuator in parallel with a passive elastic element ca
n demonstrate substantial performance improvements over the simple pas
sive elastic system acting alone.
