Abstract
The objective is to establish a simple relationship between two freque ntly used validation techniques which have been developed in the liter ature along the same lines: Principal Component Analysis and Cronbach' s alpha. We have shown that under certain conditions, it is possible t o estimate the reliability by using the results of a Principal Compone nt Analysis only. Moreover, we report the relation between Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation coefficient, which are both used to e stimate the reliability of continuous measures.
