SIMULATION OF AEROSOL DEPOSITION IN GRANULAR MEDIA

A computer simulation method was developed for and applied in the stud y of aerosol deposition in granular media. A modified Happel model was used to characterize the structure of granular media. Based on compar isons with available experimental data, an empirical correction factor , the capture probability that accounts for the various complications arising from the presence of particle deposits on the media, was estab lished. By combining the use of this correction factor together with t he simulation method, accurate prediction of aerosol collection in gra nular media with significant deposition can be made.
