The aim of the study is to assess the value of function tests of the a
utonomic nervous system in open-angle glaucoma by testing the cardiova
scular reflexes and pupil cycle time. The experimental group consisted
of 19 glaucoma subjects with controlled intraocular pressure. The con
trol group consisted of 20 healthy volunteers. The Valsalva test has p
roven to be considerably accurate in the assertion of autonomic dysfun
ction (p < 0.05). Pupil cycle time was significantly prolonged (p < 0.
001). These results confirm the role of autonomic dysfunction in open-
angle glaucoma.
