Abstract
This paper reports the existence of an elastic lamina in Bruch's membr ane in the eye of the teleost Notopterus notopterus. It is considered that the exceptional thickness of Bruch's membrane provides support fo r the tall and expanded retinal pigment epithelial cells characteristi c of this species. The functional significance of the elastic layer is not understood.
