R. Udhayan et Dp. Bhatt, EVALUATION OF OPEN CIRCUIT VOLTAGE AND CORROSION RATE IN MAGNESIUM N-HALOGEN ORGANIC CELLS/, Journal of the Electrochemical Society, 140(4), 1993, pp. 58-60
Magnesium/N-halogen organic cell systems are considered attractive amo
ng the family of primary battery devices due to their higher cell volt
age (> 2.45 V) in aqueous electrolyte and also to the fact that they a
re pollution-free. The corrosion rates of the anodes have been calcula
ted and the trend obtained with respect to the chosen N-halogen organi
c compounds is as follows: N,N-dichlorodimethylhydantoin (DDH) > trich
loroisocyanuric acid (TCIA) > dichlorosocyanuric acid (DCIA) > trichlo
romelamine (TCM). These results are qualitatively supported by scannin
g electron microscopy measurements.
