Abstract
Inert microelectrode comparative studies of the Li/Li+ couple in both LiAlCl4/SO2Cl2 and LiAlCl4, 3SO2 solvate electrolytes are undertaken u sing chronoamperometry and chronopotentiometry. Lithium deposits grow according to an instantaneous 3D-nucleation process. The solvate prese nts the best behavior regarding faradaic efficiency and corrosion rate of electrodeposited lithium. The SEI layer influence, formed during t he first reduction of the cathodic material before plating the lithium , is discussed.
