Abstract
The achievements and problems in the preparation of uniform colloids b y precipitation from homogeneous electrolyte solutions are reviewed. S pecifically, the syntheses of ''monodispersed'' particles of simple an d mixed composition as well as of coated and hollow particles of diffe rent shapes are described, and the physical and chemical mechanisms of their formation are discussed.
