Bx. Gu, CRYSTALLIZATION AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF AMORPHOUS NDXFE83-XB17 ALLOYS, Physica status solidi. a, Applied research, 136(1), 1993, pp. 189-193
Crystallization and magnetic properties of amorphous NdxFe83-xB17 allo
ys are studied. The crystallization temperature of amorphous samples i
ncreases with increasing Nd content. However, the magnetization decrea
ses with increasing Nd content. The coercivity of annealed samples inc
reases with Nd content x. When 0 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-
equal-to 6, a peak value of 160 kA/m at x = 3 is obtained. The metasta
ble compounds Nd3Fe80B17 and Nd6Fe77B17 are obtained by crystallizatio
n of the amorphous phase. The metastable compound Nd3Fe80B17 has hard
magnetic properties. It is composed of Fe3B and alpha-Fe phases. The m
etastable compound Nd6Fe77B17 is single phase. Its structure is simila
r to that of the compound Nd2Fe23B3. At high temperature this metastab
le compound decomposes into alpha-Fe and Nd1.1Fe4B4 phases.
