Abstract
Color Doppler sonography is a useful technique for rapid, noninvasive evaluation of venous disease in the upper extremity. It has been used successfully to evaluate thrombosis related to indwelling central cath eters. In addition, Doppler sonography shows promise for monitoring th rombolytic therapy after ''effort thrombosis'' and detecting intermitt ent venous compression related to thoracic outlet syndrome.
