40 YEARS OF ROMANIAN EDUCATION AND RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF CELLULOSEAND PAPER

The evolution of education and research activities in the field of cel lulose and paper, during the last 40 years, in Romania, is presented. After surveying the main historical events, the main scientific contri bution of Romanian researchers devoted to the diversification and exte ntion of some theoretical and practical aspects are analysed. Starting from such observations, the present paper synthesizes the results of the efforts made for assuring the necessary resources of raw materials , as well as of the analysis and processing of their components in pul p and paper industry. There are also discussed the latest findings in the process of upgrading of some byproducts resulted from wood process ing industry or from agricultural and energetical cultures.
