THE USE OF GROUPS TO MANAGE CONFLICT

This paper examines the use of groups to reduce, mitigate, and manage intra and inter organizational conflict in social work settings and to mobilize energy to build consensus for change. Illustrations are pres ented from four settings where short-term groups were used to identify and mediate tension, reach decisions, and make pertinent organization al changes. Practice guidelines drawn from these experiences are sugge sted.
