This research examines empirically the adoption of logistics process t
echnologies in 187 U.S. manufacturing organizations. Strategic plannin
g process variables are better predictors of the adoption of informati
on technology (software) than data technology (EDI, hardware). Individ
ual variables associated with the senior logistics executive predict t
echnology adoption with mixed results. Size predicts the adoption of a
ll the technologies in the study with equal consistency.
