Bs. Sharkin et Cj. Gelso, THE INFLUENCE OF COUNSELOR TRAINEE ANGER-PRONENESS AND ANGER DISCOMFORT ON REACTIONS TO AN ANGRY CLIENT, Journal of counseling and development, 71(5), 1993, pp. 483-487
In this study the authors explored the relationship between counselor
trainee anger-proneness and anger discomfort and trainees' reactions t
o an angry client. A total of 38 of trainees viewed and gave their rea
ctions to a videotape of an angry client-actress. There were two depen
dent variables in the study: discomfort with and anger toward the clie
nt. Trainee anger-proneness and anger discomfort scores were positivel
y and significantly related to discomfort with and anger toward the cl
ient. Implications for future research and training are discussed.
