Vs. Kondrashov et al., A COMPUTER-PROGRAM FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF NUCLIDES BY USING MEDIANESTIMATES OF PEAK AREAS IN GAMMA-RAY SPECTRA, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 328(3), 1993, pp. 542-546
For a set of a priori given nuclides taken from a work library, the co
mputer program DIMEN, presented in this paper, uses median estimates o
f the peak areas and estimates of their errors to produce a list of po
ssible nuclides matching a gamma-line and some measure of the reliabil
ity of this assignment. A Gaussian peak shape is used to analyze activ
ity peaks. To ensure a reliable isotope identification, the program in
cludes a wide database of nuclides, from Be-4(7) to Md-101(258), and o
ptimizes the work library. The general structure of the program is des
cribed.
