The introduction of an increasing number of transmission systems (TS)
into communications networks, the development of new communications sy
stems having fundamental differences from previous systems, and an inc
rease in the volume of data have all imposed more stringent requiremen
ts on quality control of communications channels. This paper describes
tone-frequency (F) channel test equipment capable of interacting with
computer hardware and evaluating the quality of tone-frequency channe
ls formed by different transmission systems as well as the suitability
of such channels for transmitting both analog and digital data.
