Lb. Lobyreva et Vk. Plakunov, CAUSES OF THE PERIODIC DYNAMICS OF AROMATIC AMINO-ACID-TRANSPORT IN HALOBACTERIUM-SALINARIUM, Microbiology, 61(5), 1992, pp. 538-541
The mechanism of the origin of the periodic fluctuations Of the intrac
ellular aromatic amino acid concentration during transport into Haloba
cterium salinarium cells, which lies at the basis of the ''membrane re
gulation'' of their intracellular level, has been studied. It was show
n that the main cause of the nonuniform dynamics of phenylalanine tran
sport is the generation of periodic changes in the membrane electrical
potential in the course of translocation of the amino acid. A definit
e role in amino acid excretion may be played by trans-inhibition-type
regulation of transport, the existence of which in cells of this micro
organism has been demonstrated experimentally.
