Lm. Baryshnikova et al., REGULATION OF CARBOHYDRATE TRANSPORT-SYSTEMS IN RHODOCOCCUS-MINIMUS AT THE LEVEL OF PROTEIN-SYNTHESIS, Microbiology, 61(5), 1992, pp. 542-545
Glucose transport and its regulation has been studied in Rhodococcus m
inimus B293. It was shown that in this Rhodococcus, depending on the g
lucose concentration in the medium, there are two glucose-transport sy
stems. Under oligotrophic conditions the inducible galactose transport
system S1 is activated; in the presence of excess substrate, the cons
titutive transport system S2 is implemented. The Sl system is inhibite
d by glucose. The negative glucose effect is manifested both at the le
vel of protein synthesis and at the level of regulation of transport-s
ystem activity by activation and inactivation of its proteins.
