Np. Maksimova et al., ROLE OF PHNYLALANINE IN THE BIOSYNTHESIS OF THE FLUORESCENT PIGMENT OF PSEUDOMONAS-PUTIDA, Microbiology, 61(5), 1992, pp. 567-571
We showed, using the aro-1 phu- 1 mutant of Pseudomonas putida M, that
phenylalanine was the precursor of the o-dioxyquinoline nucleus of th
e fluorescent pigment pyoverdin P(m). When synthesized from exogenous
phenylalanine, pyoverdin.P(m) was indistinguishable in its physico-che
mical properties form the original pigment.
