Abstract
High resolution K X-ray spectroscopy preceded by neutron activation ma y be considered to complement and/or rival PIXE in certain areas of an alysis. This paper describes the relative capabilities of these techni ques and evaluates their analytical potential with particular regard t o the analysis of the heavy elements. Emphasis is placed on common fea tures that would affect a typical analysis, and thereby the ability of both methods to complement (rival) each other is discussed.
