We have synthesized a rare earth metal with porphyrin to obtain a lant
hanoid porphynato for biomedical applications. Some of the lanthanoid
porphynatos are potentially the versatile cancer probes. We report gad
olinium hematoporphyrin derivative synthesis and show that PIXE can be
used to assess how good the synthesis is and how good the gadolinium
hematoporphyrin derivative system can be used as a tumor localizer to
probe a malignant neoplasia from its benigh periphery. We show the PIX
E spectra of a nude mouse experiment to explain our works. Theoretical
ly the present approach can allow us to investigate carcinogenesis at
the cell level.
