REDUCTION OF COPPER(II)-TRIGLYCINE (1 1) SYSTEM AT DROPPING MERCURY-ELECTRODE - LARGE DIFFERENCE IN REDOX BEHAVIOR OF COPPER(II) FOR O-BONDED AND N--BONDED PEPTIDE GROUP/
Hl. Nigam et al., REDUCTION OF COPPER(II)-TRIGLYCINE (1 1) SYSTEM AT DROPPING MERCURY-ELECTRODE - LARGE DIFFERENCE IN REDOX BEHAVIOR OF COPPER(II) FOR O-BONDED AND N--BONDED PEPTIDE GROUP/, Journal of the Indian Chemical Society, 69(8), 1992, pp. 530-535
Complex formation between copper(II) and triglycine has been studied p
olarographically in aqueous sodium perchlorate medium. The results hav
e been interpreted in terms of various species suggested by Martell et
al.3 and Sarker et al.3 Present findings favour the structures sugges
ted by Sarkar et al.3. It has also been concluded that even in the phy
siological pH-range the species may undergo bonding site interconversi
on causing large changes in the redox property of copper. This may off
er an explanation to the considerable variability in redox behaviour o
f type-2 copper in copper proteins.
