Abstract
C6H14N2O6, M(r) = 210.19, tetragonal, P4(3), a 4.938 (1), c = 36.907 ( 8) angstrom, V = 899.93 angstrom3, Z = 4, D(x) = 1.551 g cm-3, lambda( Cu Kalpha) = 1.5418 angstrom, mu = 12.18 cm-1, F(000) = 448.0, T = 295 K, final R = 0.032 and wR = 0.029 for 759 observed reflections. The s ugar chain of L-mannonic acid hydrazide shows the expected all-trans c onformation. The hydrogen-bond pattern includes a homodromic cycle wit h a special connectivity that is also realized in several other open-c hain sugar derivatives with different chirality. The relationship betw een the dimensions of the crystal lattice and the occurrence of this s pecial cycle is discussed.
