Abstract
In this study we analysed by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis total solubilized proteins of Staphylococcus xylosus and S. caprae isolated from goat. We have compared 45 strains (27 Stap hylococcus xylosus, 16 S. caprae and 2 S. warneri) with ATCC reference strains using DICE coefficient. The results revealed minor difference s in band patterns of strains corresponding to the same species. Each species gave a specific profile distinguishable from that of any other species. This study showed that the analysis of total proteins by SDS -PAGE can be used in staphylococcal species and strains differenciatio n and could have application as a taxonomic and typing tool.
