In this paper the reactor and auxilliary equipment conceived and built
in our laboratory for high temperature kinetic studies on gas-solid h
eterogeneous reactions are described. This reactor was used to study t
he hydrolysis of FeCl2, the H-2 generator step in the thermochemical c
ycles from Fe-Cl family. The preliminary tests and some problems gener
ated by the use of anhidrous FeCl2 as solid phase and the corrosive ch
aracter of the gaseous phase, due to the presence of HCl are also pres
ented.
