Abstract
The enthalpies of combustion of 2-nitrodiphenylamine and hexanitrodibe nzyl has been determined in an oxygen static bomb calorimeter. The ent healpy of formation has been derived using data from the available lit erature. The obtained results are as follows : C12H10N12O2(s) + 13.5 O 2(g) = 12 CO2(g) + 5 H2O(1) + N2(g) DELTAcH-degrees(298.15 K) = - 6228 +/- 2 kJ/mol (- 1488.1 +/- 0.5 kcal/mol) DELTAfH-degrees(298.15 K) = + 77 +/- 2 kJ/mol (+ 18.36 +/- 0.5 kcal/mol) C14H8N6O12(s) + 10 O2(g) = 14 CO2(g) + 4 H2O(1) 3 N2(g) DELTAcH-degrees(298.15 K) = - 6623 +/- 3 kJ/mol (- 1582 +/- 0.7 kcal/mol) DELTAfH-degrees(298.15 K) = - 30 +/ - 3 kJ/mol (- 7 +/- 0. 7 kcal/mol)
