Ib. Sladkov, PREDICTION OF THE TEMPERATURE VS DIFFUSION-COEFFICIENT CURVE IN THE GAS-PHASE, Journal of applied chemistry of the USSR, 65(5), 1992, pp. 974-977
A method is proposed for calculation of the exponent in the equation D
/D0 = (T/T0)m based on a rigorous molecular-kinetic theory. The propos
ed method predicts the temperature vs. diffusion coefficient curve wit
h reliability when there are data on one value of this property. A sem
i-empirical correlation was established between the mutual diffusion c
oefficient of gases and vapors at T0 = 273 K and the molar mass of the
second component of the mixture. The D273 for a series of systems bas
ed on hydrogen and carbon dioxide were determined with this correlatio
n. The parameters of the equation were determined for 35 binary gas sy
stems for which there are no published information on the diffusion co
efficient or the information is restricted by the value of the diffusi
on coefficient at 273 K alone.
