FORMATION OF POLYELECTRIDE-LIKE COMPOUNDS VIA REACTION OF POLYMERIC POLYDIBENZO-CROWN-ETHER WITH ALKALI-METAL SOLUTIONS IN METHYLAMINE

Samples of polydibenzo-18-C-6, prepared electrochemically and then che mically undoped, were treated with alkali-metal solutions. The concomi tance of triphenylene moieties having electron affinity and of complex ing sites for the cations leads to a specific reactivity. The study of the EPR spectra shows the appearance of new paramagnetic signals afte r treatment. The modified polymer can be considered as ''n-doped''. Th e spectra are discussed in terms of the distortion of the solid struct ure induced by the complexation, as well as the possibility of presenc e of conduction electrons.
