Using a nonlinear model, the seismic response of multistorey reinforce
d concrete framed shearwalls is predicted and the effect of variations
in the material strengths of steel and concrete are studied. In addit
ion, the effect of considering the upper structure weight on such wall
s is examined. It is found that normal variations in concrete strength
can significantly affect the deflections and shear forces in five- an
d ten-storey framed shearwalls.
