Abstract
The hydrogen permeability of U8A carbon steel in 1 M sulfuric acid con taining hydrogen sulfide has been examined under controlled cathodic a nd anodic polarization conditions. A correlation has been derived betw een the high hydrogen penetration rate in the steel and the susceptibi lity to embrittlement at low anode electrode potential shifts.
