The rate constant for the reaction between Fe(II) ions and H2O2 has be
en determined at pH 0.4-2 as a function of temperature in the range 5-
300-degrees-C. H2O2 was produced by irradiating the aqueous solution w
ith a pulse of electrons. The rate constants at 20 and 300-degrees-C w
ere determined to be 52 +/- 2 and (2.5 +/- 0.4) x 10(5) M-1 s-1, respe
ctively, with an activation energy of 42 +/- 1 kJ mol-1 (10.1 +/- 0.2
kcal mol-1).
