We use a cellular-automata (CA) method to determine the frequency-depe
ndent permeability k(omega) of a channel and a disordered porous mediu
m. The CA results for the channel flow agree completely with the analy
tical solution of the problem. For flow in a porous medium, we calcula
te k(omega) over a wide range of the frequencies omega and for several
values of the porosity. Our CA results for disordered porous media su
pport the relation k(omega)/k0 = f(omega/omega(c)) where k0 is the sta
tic permeability of the medium, omega(c) is a characteristic frequency
, and f(x) is a universal function, proposed previously, based on expe
rimental data.
