A method is proposed to approximate flow diagrams with allowance for t
he methodological error due to the non-Newtonian properties of the tes
t fluid. The equations of motion for Couette and Poiseuille flow are e
xamined on the basis of the Shulman model, which describes non-Newtoni
an fluids which do and do not have plastic properties. It is shown tha
t even for fluids of the given type with pronounced non-Newtonian prop
erties, the methodological error can be ignored if the gaps in the vis
cometers are small.
