Abstract
Current knowledge of the structural chloroplast genome organization is presented in brief. Considerable attention is devoted to the distingu ishing features of the chloroplast DNA and gene structure, and to the pro- and eukaryotic features of the chloroplast genome organization. T he comparative structure analysis of three completely sequenced chloro plast genomes (liverwort, tobacco, rice) reveals a high conservatism f or this cellular genome.
