Abstract
Research News: An energy filtering transmission electron microscope (E FTEM) has the advantage that, unlike a conventional TEM, it can also u tilize the spectroscopic information carried by inelastically scattere d electrons. thus making optimum use of all the available information. The design of an EFTEM featuring an OMEGA-type imaging electron-energ y-loss spectrometer that is integrated into the imaging beam path is d escribed, and its modes of use and possible applications discussed.
