Abstract
In recent years there has been an increased growth of interest in obje ct oriented programming, which is a new approach to software construct ion having wide application. The possibility of using object oriented programming to build a software package that will assist the nuclear r eactor operator in diagnosing any faults or alarms in a small scale pr essurised water reactor (LOFT - loss of fluid test) is investigated.
