Ev. Grabovskii et al., INVESTIGATION OF GENERATOR LOAD INTERACTION IN THE ANGARA-5 INSTALLATION, Instruments and experimental techniques, 35(5), 1992, pp. 840-844
The generator-load interaction in the Angara-5 installation is investi
gated. The electromagnetic processes in uniform transmission lines are
described in terms of the incident and reflected waves, which means t
he current and voltage at any site of the line can be calculated; the
energy reflectivity at nonregularities can be determined, and the rela
tion between the readings of probes located at different sites can be
established. The generator load and breakdown time of the separating d
iaphragm (of the accelerator tube) are determined as functions of time
. The results are interpreted. The energy reflectivity at the end of t
he short-circuited transmission line is close to unity, and in the cas
e of an energy absorbing load it is about 0.5.
