Solid-Liquid equilibria for epsilon-caprolactam and its oligomers have
been studied to evaluate the solubility limits for dimer, in the temp
erature range of (90 - 120)-degrees-C and trimer at 90-degrees-C, by e
xperimental determination of mixing enthalpies DELTAH(mix) at P = 1 at
m. Data have been obtained isothermally by SETARAM C80D Calorimeter us
ing reversal mixing vessels and by differential scanning calorimetry.
Comparison of our results was performed by UNIFAC method calculations
on the three binary systems: epsilon-caprolactam-dimer, dimer-trimer,
epsilon-caprolactam-trimer and later extended to the ternary diagram e
psilon-caprolactam-dimer-trimer. DSC measurements of melting temperatu
re T(f) and melting enthalpies DELTAH(f) for all pure components have
been carried out and given as input to the program.
