Amorphous Fe1-xBx alloy particles, prepared by a chemical reduction me
thod, and ribbons, produced by the melt-spin method, have been investi
gated by Mossbauer spectroscopy. The average magnetic hyperfine fields
and isomer shifts for ribbons and particles are found to resemble eac
h other, but the hyperfine field distributions for the particles are s
ignificantly wider than for the ribbons. This indicates that the two t
ypes of alloys have slightly different amorphous structures.
