Abstract
By means of Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measure ments we have studied the superparamagnetic relaxation of ultrafine ma ghemite particles. The behaviour of oleic acid coated and uncoated par ticles is compared. The effects of pressing the samples are also inves tigated. The observed differences are ascribed to the difference in th e strength of the magnetic interaction between the particles in the sa mples.
