CS2Au2I6 is a halogen bridged three-dimensional mixed valence Au compl
ex. This complex undergoes a semicondUCtor-to-metal transition and a m
etal-to-metal transition under high pressures. The second metallic pha
se appearing at P greater-than-or-similar-to 6,5 GPa and T greater-tha
n-or-similar-to 60-degrees-C has a cubic perovskite structure and can
be obtained as a metastable state at room temperature and ambient pres
sure. From an interest in the electronic state of the cubic phase in C
s2Au2I6, we investigated the Au-197 Mossbauer spectrum for the metasta
ble cubic phase in Cs2Au2I6.
